Sodium Hydrosulphite

Airedale Chemical Sodium Hydrosulphite (also known as Sodium Dithionite) holds the formula Na2S2O4. It is used in the manufacture of a variety of products from photographic film to wine and from fine writing papers to leather goods.

Solid – white crystalline powder with a weak sulphurous odour. Solution – clear, colourless solution with a weak sulphurous odour

Applications

Water Treatment

In industrial applications it can be used as a reducing agent in aqueous solutions.
Used for water treatment, gas purification, cleaning, and stripping.

Textile

Used as such in some industrial dyeing processes, where an otherwise water-insoluble dye can be reduced into a water-soluble alkali metal salt.

Life Science

Often used in physiology experiments as a means of lowering solutions' redox potential

Photographic

In photography it is used as a developer
