Sodium Hexametaphosphate (SHMP)
Airedale Chemical’s Sodium Hexametaphosphate holds the formula Na6P6O18 and is also widely known as SHMP.
It is mainly used as a sequestrant and has applications within a wide variety of industries, for application such as a food additive as well as a dispersing agent to break down clay and other soil types.

Food additive in which it is used under the E number E452i, it can be commonly found in canned or imitation milk, cheese and syrups as well as in roast beef, fish fillets and beer amongst over beverages.
Sodium carbonate is sometimes added to SHMP to raise the pH to 8.0-8.6, which produces a number of SHMP products used for water softening and detergents
Used as a dispersing agent to break down clay and other soil types.
One of the lesser-known uses is as a deflocculant
Used in the production of clay based ceramic particles
