Description

Airedale Chemical Sodium Benzoate holds the formula NaC7H5O2 and is widely used as a food preservative with the E number E211.

Usage

Airedale Chemical Sodium Benzoate has a variety of uses within varying industries as follows:

  • Preservative – As a food additive, Airedale Chemical Sodium Benzoate has the E number E211. It is bacteriostatic and fungi static under acidic conditions. Most widely used in acidic foods such as salad dressings, carbonated drinks, jams and fruit juices, pickles and condiments.
  • Used as a preservative in medicines and cosmetics.
  • Pharmaceutical applications – used as a treatment for urea cycle disorders
  • Sodium benzoate is also used in fireworks as a fuel in whistle mix
